Dining Around Chandler

Downtown Chandler is now your one stop shop for a jam-packed night out on the town.  The density of this hotbed of hip new restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues means you can park at or Uber to your first destination and proceed on foot, trick-or-treat style, up and down Arizona Avenue to fill your belly and have all sorts of fun.  Between the Chandler Center for Performing Arts and Improvmania on the north and the south ends of this lively strip, respectively, are a wide variety of upscale and casual restaurants and bars.

Here are some of our faves:

Charm Thai:  Colorful Thai Cuisine including traditional pad thai and curry dishes, plus an extensive drink menu and exotic desserts.  You can design your own entree or try one of many specialty items in this intimate, sleek restaurant.  Perfect for a business lunch or date night!

Have to try:  Tom Yum Noodle Soup and Fried Banana Ice Cream

The Perch Brewery:  Many think the name comes from the fact that this expansive pub has a second story where you, yourself can find a “perch” and look out over Downtown Chandler or the courtyard dining area below but look more closely and you’ll see there are rescue birds throughout the venue ready to say hello.  Unique craft food with beer, wine, and mixed drinks in a dreamy outdoor setting.

Have to try:  Green Chile Pork Pizza

With over 200,000 residents Gilbert, Arizona is currently the most populous incorporated town in the United States. This makes Gilbert unique in many ways. It has a small town feel, but also touts many of the advantages of being a “city”. 20 years ago it would have been hard to imagine the bustling environment one finds today as they walk down Gilbert Road surrounded by modern eateries, boutiques, and businesses where so recently residents were riding horses to get from here to there.

Unlike most towns that boom Gilbert has not lost its identity. The heart of Gilbert is intact and thriving. Original stunning buildings are intermingled with new modern structures allowing the past and present to create an experience all its own. On any given day one might start their day with a walk in the Riparian Preserve amidst amazing desert landscape before meeting friends for lunch at San Tan Mall.

As Gilbert has grown they have strategically ensured an ongoing level of quality. From safety statistics that are among the best in the nation to school options that rival those of large cities, Gilbert has left nothing to chance. City level planning has allowed the town of Gilbert to grow into a small town with big city appeal.

June Market Update

June Market Update

Current look at the RE market in the Valley

The most noteworthy market trend for Metro Phoenix real estate was May’s jump in average sold price for homes to $301,478, up an incredible 3.1% from last month and 6.6% from last year. This is the first time we’ve been above the $300K mark since spring 2008, and brings values within 15% of peak 2007 prices. Interest rates for 30-year fixed loans just dipped back to 4.01% (freddiemac.com) and don’t seem to be affecting prices or buyer behavior. Days on market just took a significant dip to a record low of 51. New buyers and sellers are entering the market at the same rates that favor sellers for homes priced below $350K and buyers above $350K. Of all homes sold so far this year, 80% have sold for $350K or less; the other 20% in higher price ranges.

New Eats in Downtown Gilbert

Gilbert continues to grow and slowly become one of Arizona’s best cities to live and raise a family. The downtown area keeps adding dining and entertainment with something for every age. With more people moving here every year, it seems the area and local business scene will continue to grow. Downtown is already becoming a prime dining destination for Valley foodies. These are some spots worth trying in one of America’s newest and safest cities.

Fire+Brimstone Eatery

This locally owned pizza parlor fuses fresh ingredients with authentic recipes with a spin. Most of their ingredients are locally sourced from the Farm at Agritopia. They have a clean and simple menu with something for everyone. F+B does not serve alcohol but does have a modern BYOB (bring your own bottle) policy that allows you to bring in your favorite bottle of wine.

Not Your Typical Deli

Cross Streets: Baseline & Val Vista

NYTD is not your typical delicatessen.  While it has some classic flavors and menu items, it delivers a little more by giving back to the community with an honorable cause. This Gilbert deli opened last summer (2016) with an amazing approach to staffing their restaurant by providing opportunities and employment to young people with developmental disabilities such as Autism.  Owner Pam DePalma, and head chef W Rieth created a 12-week training program that teaches employees culinary skills and job training they can use in the future. This helps to combat the 90% unemployment rate for those with disabilities in Arizona. On top of this awesome mission to better people’s lives, they also make authentic deli sandwiches that are getting raving reviews on Yelp. The sandwiches and hotdogs are hand crafted and made with some local and always fresh ingredients.
